David Vail Superintendent

Dr. David Vail, Ph.D.     Superintendent
 


Dr. David Vail is in his third year as Superintendent with the Carlisle Local School District and his 42nd in public education. He started his career as a secondary math teacher, as well as a coach. He taught and coached at five local districts for 15 years before beginning his administrative positions in four previous districts. He began as an Assistant Principal/Athletic Director before becoming a 7 – 12 building principal. He then became superintendent and served in that position in his last two districts before landing at Carlisle.

Dr. Vail earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from Wright State University and his Master of Science Degree in Education, as well as his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton. He received the Outstanding Superintendent Award from the OSBA Southwest Region in 2017.

David and Kathleen, his wife of over 40 years, have two grown children – Melissa Archer (David) and Matthew Vail (Ashley), as well as 5 beautiful grandchildren.
