During the 2014-2015 school year, Carlisle schools adopted, created, and implemented a 1-8 technology course of study called Learning.com. It is the goal of the Carlisle schools for every child to have one full academic year of experience in a technology course before entering Chamberlain Middle School. Each student in grade 3 will have computer class for three days a week throughout the school year. Students will learn the following skills:
- Keyboarding (typing)
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Power Point
- Create and modify databases
- Searching the internet using key words
- The difference between .com, .org, .gov, and .edu websites
- Many other skills will be explored as time permits
Students in grades 1, 2, 4, and 5 will also be working with Learning.com. Their experience and time working with the program will vary depending on the classroom teacher.
