His 2018 team finished 18-7 and midway through the season was ranked #9 in the AP State basketball poll. This past season, his team finished 19-3 including a 16 game win streak. Newsome was also named the 2019 Dayton Daily News All Area D4 Coach of the Year, and the District 15 Coach of the Year in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Prior to Legacy Christian, Coach Newsome was the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Yellow Springs High School. While at Yellow Springs, he was selected as the MBC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2008, the District 15 Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2004, and won four MBC Conference Championships.  In 2010, Newsome was presented the OHSAA Award for Outstanding Achievement for a Basketball Coach (182 wins).       “Super excited for the opportunity to coach the players and staff have here at Carlisle,” said Newsome.  Athletic Director, John Augustine said, “I look forward to the dedication and experience that Brad brings to Carlisle.”

Newsome takes over the Carlisle program, which has been led by Donnie Ridinger for the past four years.
