Confidentiality

The relationship between a student and their school counselor requires an atmosphere of trust and confidence. While confidentiality is of the utmost importance, it is also a school counselor ethical duty to break confidentiality if one or more of these conditions are met:

1. Student is a threat to themselves or others

2. Someone is hurting the student

3. The student gives permission to share information
